Project Description
Projects
Autodrive Research Project
Artificial intelligence is required to achieve highly automated and autonomous driving. In such scenarios, the driver might not be required at all or only in a limited scope to react to unexpected situations by overriding the system.
Such a system must be able to reasonably deal with unexpected situations while still ensuring the functional safety of the vehicle. This system could be developed using an “experience pool” strategy, capable of finding a solution to previously undefined problems.

Together with functional safety, the use of artificial intelligence poses two fundamental challenges:
(a) the inability to understand decisions that were made once before and therefore a lack of traceability through the “black box” implementation of artificial intelligence methods.
(b) the independent further development of the experience and solution space and therefore a lack of control
etamax is funded by the “Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership Joint Undertaking (ECSEL JU)” in cooperation with the European Research Framework H2020 and National Institutions (grant n° 737469.)
